Alinea takes your privacy seriously. This policy is written to be readable, no dense legal blocks. If anything is unclear, ask us.
Who we are
Alinea ("we," "us," "our") is Alinea Business LLC. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use alineabusiness.com and the private online community at community.alineabusiness.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
On this website, we collect:
- Information you give us. When you request an audit, download a resource, or use one of the free tools, we ask for your name and email address, and sometimes a phone number, website URL, and details about your business. When you book a call, the booking calendar collects your name, email, and the time you select.
- Technical information collected automatically. When you use the site, we log basic technical data including your IP address, browser user agent, device type, referring URL, and pages viewed. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and product analytics.
If you also join the community, we additionally collect:
- Account information. When you create an account we ask for your first name, last name, email address, and password. During onboarding you may also provide business name, location, business description, website URL, and a personal "why did you join" note. If you upload a profile photo or attach an image to a post, we store the file.
- Content you create. Posts, comments, reactions, poll votes, direct messages, and event RSVPs you make inside the community are stored so members can see them.
How we use your information
- To send you the audit, resource, or report you asked for, and to follow up about it.
- To create and secure your account, if you join the community.
- To operate the community feed, direct messages, notifications, classroom, and any other features you interact with.
- To send you transactional email (account verification, password reset, comment notifications) and optional community broadcasts you can unsubscribe from.
- To understand how the product is used in aggregate so we can improve it.
- To measure the effectiveness of our advertising (see below).
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of use.
Cookies and tracking technologies
This website uses a small set of tracking technologies:
- Google Analytics 4 collects anonymized aggregate usage data (page views, session duration, referrer).
- GoHighLevel supplies the booking calendar and some embedded forms, and sets its own cookies when you interact with them.
- Session cookies keep you signed in and remember your preferences.
The community additionally uses:
- Meta Pixel + Meta Conversions API record signup and lead events so we can measure Facebook / Instagram ad performance. Some of this data is sent server-to-server rather than from your browser.
- Microsoft Clarity records anonymized session playback and click / scroll heatmaps to help us diagnose usability problems. Password and email fields are automatically masked and never captured.
- Cloudflare Turnstile runs a lightweight bot check on the signup form. No personal data is transmitted for this check.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with the service providers we rely on to run the platform:
- Vercel — website hosting and edge delivery.
- Neon — managed Postgres database for member accounts and community content.
- Vercel Blob — image storage for profile photos, banners, and post attachments.
- Resend — outbound transactional and broadcast email delivery.
- Meta (Facebook) — advertising measurement via the Meta Pixel and Conversions API.
- Google — aggregate usage analytics via Google Analytics 4.
- Microsoft — session replay and UX heatmaps via Microsoft Clarity.
- Cloudflare — bot detection via Cloudflare Turnstile.
- GoHighLevel — customer relationship management, booking, and tier / purchase webhook handling for members who purchase a paid tier.
Each of these vendors has its own privacy practices and processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction. Community members can view and update most of the information we hold from their profile page. For anything not editable in the interface, or if you are not a member, email us at privacy@alineabusiness.com.
- Notification preferences. Community members can turn individual in-app and email notifications on or off from their notification preferences page.
- Marketing email. Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any email we send, or reply and ask us to remove you.
- Deletion. Email us at privacy@alineabusiness.com from the address on your account and we will delete your account and personal data. Some records (billing history, moderation actions) may be retained for a limited period to meet legal or accounting obligations.
- Opt out of analytics. Browser extensions like uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger block the Pixel, GA4, and Clarity tags. We honor them.
Data retention
We keep your account and its content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, personal information is removed within 30 days. Content that other members have interacted with (comments other people replied to, for example) may remain in the feed in an anonymized form so the surrounding conversation still makes sense.
Children
Our services are intended for business operators aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect the information we store, including HTTPS everywhere, password hashing, encrypted database connections, and access controls on our internal admin surfaces. No system is perfectly secure. If we ever learn of a breach that materially affects you, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.
International transfers
Our servers and sub-processors are located primarily in the United States. If you access our services from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US and other countries where our sub-processors operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Substantive changes will be reflected in the "Effective" date at the top of this page, and material changes will be announced inside the community.
